One morning after dawn, I strayed onto a back road at Kruger National Park in South Africa. This giant bird is what I found. I understand that they can be quite aggressive in defending their chicks, but after this one studied me for a number of minutes, this one must have decided I wasn't worth it. Contrary to folklore, ostriches do not bury their heads in the sand. They are, however, quite delicious.
