National Dialup

Numbers last updated 01-02-02

Bway.net is now providing dialup beyond the NYC metro area through Telia. They are a national provider and the best we were able to find, but please keep in mind that they do not have service in every state / area code. We are urging them to expand their coverage in certain areas and will continue to do so.

To connect to them please find the nearest number to your location from this list and use that number in lieu of the bway.net dialup numbers for your remote connection. Depending on your setup, the easiest method may be to create additional profiles. If you need setup help please see our web pages for general help in establishing a connection.

Please note that bway.net pays a fixed amount per subscriber using the service within a month, so if you use the service, please make good use of the time. We pay a fixed amount whether you connect once or 300 times in a month. We are offering this as a free service to dialup subscribers, but if it becomes too expensive we reserve the right to bill for the remote dialup service, but with appropriate notice of course.

When using a Telia number, the only other change is that when prompted for your dialup username you need to include @bway.net, (i.e., binky@bway.net), plus your usual password. This allows the Worldnet network to connect you to our our servers.

Also, when accessing your mail via a Telia dialup number, please download (pop) your email before composing and sending a message. This will transmit your IP address to our server and your connection will be associated with you as a client and not a spammer or other unfriendly entity, as those would normally be blocked.

If you experience problems, please answer the following questions and email to support@bway.net

The questions follow: (The first four are the most important for troubleshooting purposes)

1. Number being dialed into
2. Number being dialed from
3. Approximate time the customer was dialing in and experiencing failures.
4. Any error messages, if so exactly is it?
5. Does this happen all the time? When did this start happening?
6. What is happening; are they dialing out? Is the modem negotiating?
Are they getting to the point of username/password verification?
Are they connecting then getting dropped, if so how far into the connection?
Are they not connecting at all?
7. Are they being assigned an IP Address? What is it?
8. What type of modem?
9. What type of computer, Windows or MAC?
10. What is the operating system?

Happy trails!
