Installation and set-up Process:

If DSL is currently available in you area, installation should occur within 60 days from date of initial order

A Covad Field Technician will install wiring from the Network Interface Device (telephone box) to an RJ-45 wall jack at the client location. The technician then connects the wall jack to a DSL router.

Your computer or network now has a fast, always connected, secure link to your corporate network or the Internet.

Once the Covad Field Technician arrives at the premises, the installation process takes approximately 2 hours.

A preliminary visit by a Bell Atlantic technician is usually required to install a clean, DSL-ready line.

Scalable Hardware:

Upgrade paths are easy and inexpensive.
Hardware for all SDSL levels require only a software modification for service level changes. This can be done remotely (no premises visit) and there is a flat $99 upgrade fee ($199 if a visit is required). IDSL also uses the same equipment as ISDN, making it easy to migrate from ISDN to the always-connected, affordable IDSL service (TeleSpeed 144). Current ISDN customers may be able to use their existing equipment with the TeleSpeed 144 service. See our Equipment page for more information.

Covad Equipment

Covad works closely with various equipment manufacturers to deliver the highest quality and most cost-effective TeleSpeed service equipment available today. Covad believes in working with customers to ensure that a variety of customer premise equipment is qualified to meet their needs. Covad TeleSpeed service requires an RJ-45 wall jack, a digital router (available for sale directly from Covad), and a workstation with a customer-installed ethernet card. Covad offers an inside wiring service (chargeable on a per hour basis) for customers who require it.

Qualified equipment is thoroughly tested and approved for Covad's TeleSpeed service. Covad researches and tests equipment from multiple manufacturers. Covad requires the vendors and their equipment to meet a strict set of requirements to ensure the equipment meets the needs of our customers and clients. Once Covad feels the equipment and its manufacturer's support have met Covad's standards and Covad Field Technicians are trained to install and support, it is classified as Covad Qualified Covad Technicians will configure Covad Qualified equipment for no additional charge - this is included as part of the basic installation fee. Equipment available for sale from Covad always carries the Qualified classification. This table shows Covad Qualified equipment used in client installations.
