Windows ME Dialup Networking
Create a New Dial-Up Networking Connection
If you'd like to edit an existing connection, skip to here
  1. Click the Start button, go to Settings
  2. Click Dial-up Networking



  3. Double click Make New Connection



  4. Under Type a name for the computer you are dialing, type bway.net
  5. Click Next



  6. In the Area code and Telephone number text boxes, type your local
    Bway access number.



  7. Click Finish



  8. Right click the bway.net icon and choose Properties



  9. Click the Networking tab

  10. For Type of Dial-Up Server, select PPP: Internet, Windows 2000/NT, Windows ME.
  11. Check Enable software compression.
  12. Uncheck Record a log file for this connection
  13. Uncheck NetBEUI.
  14. Uncheck IPX/SPX Compatible.
  15. Check TCP/IP.
  16. Click the TCP/IP Settings button.



  17. Select the Server assigned IP address button.
  18. Select the Specify name server addresses button.
  19. In the Primary DNS text box, type 216.220.96.17
  20. In the Secondary DNS text box, type 216.220.96.18
  21. Check both Use IP header compression and Use default gateway on remote network.

  22. Click OK



  23. Click the Security tab

  24. Enter your username and password
    Your username is the first part of your email address, before the "@" sign.
    (ex. for username@bway.net).
  25. Under Domain type bway.net
  26. Uncheck Connect automatically

  27. Uncheck Log on to network
  28. Uncheck Require encrypted password
  29. Uncheck Require data encryption

  30. Click OK





    You can now access this connection by going to Start - Settings - Dial-up Networking and double clicking it. If you would like a shortcut to this connection on your desktop, just drag it there.
