Create a New Dial-Up Networking Connection
If you'd like to edit an existing connection, skip to here
- Click the Start button, go to Settings then Control Panel

- Click Switch to Classic View

- Double-click the Network Connections icon

- Click Create a new connection

- This will bring up the New Connection Wizard window.
- Click Next

- Select Connect to the Internet
- Click Next

- Select Set up my connection manually
- Click Next

- Select Connect using a dial-up modem
- Click Next

- In the ISP Name field type bway

- In the Phone number field, type your local Bway access number.
- Click Next

- In the User name field, type your bway user name
Your
username is the first part of your email address, before the "@" sign. (ex.
for username@bway.net).
- In the Password field, type your password
- In the Confirm password field, type your password
- Uncheck the box next to Use this account name and password when anyone connects to the Internet from this computer
- Uncheck the box next to Make this the default Internet connection
- Uncheck the box next to Turn on Internet Connection Firewall for this connection
- Click Next

- Check the box next to Add a shortcut to this connection to my desktop if you wish to have a shortcut to the connection on your desktop
- Click Finish

- Close all windows
- Click the Start button, go to Settings
- Click Network Connections

- Right click your dial-up connection and choose Properties

- Click the Networking tab.
- Under Type of dial-up server I am calling select PPP: Windows 95/98/NT4/2000, Internet
- Highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) in This connection uses the following items list and click the Properties button

- Select Obtain an IP address automatically
- Select Use the following DNS server addresses
- In the Preferred DNS server field type 216.220.96.17
- In the Alternate DNS server field type 216.220.96.18
- Click OK

- Close all windows. You're done.
