I am a professor of mathematics at Fordham University in New York City. Professionally, my research is in computer applications to pure mathematics. I am the author of a computer algebra system that performs far better than the well known ones do in certain matrix and polynomial computations.
I started birding as a graduate student at Cornell University 31 years ago. Since then I have lived in South Carolina, North Carolina, and New York. My birding interests have grown to be dominated by gulls and gull photography. My favorite places to bird are Hatteras, Arizona, New Mexico, Portugal, Montauk, and the closest large dump. Some day I'm sure I'll have the time to rebroaden my birding activities.
